Who ya gonna call?

One on three mobile users are afraid that by losing their cellphone, they also lose all their friends, since most mobile users store their friends numbers in their cellphones only, according to a survey done by British company Intervoice.
More than 50% procent of all cellphone users lost a phone by theft or by simply losing it, at one time or another, in the past three years. 19% of those interviewed are worried about the time it will take to regain their contact info. And one on three interviewed women? thinks this means a permanent loss of at least some of their contacts..!

Sounds to me there's a massive market for good and simple (model, make and platform independent) backup software for cellphones! Who ya gonna call? Contactsolvers!

  • Good idea, I figured that out about a year ago....however done nothing with it because of other business. A SIM-card copier would be a good idea (people could duplicate the data on their SIM-card in the Nokia or Vodaphone shops), however you would need those parties to cooperate. I'm also not sure if this hasn't been done yet. Well, if others are interested we could look at it together and maybe do something with it (the network contains the needed contacts, Epyon could make the SIM card copier). Take care, Simon den Uijl

  • Sim-Backups are already sold in various forms.
Due to the "smart"-phones just backing up your sim is not enough.
An in this case back-up software comes with your phone.

I would use an online service, access via phone/internet to backup numbers.
